Supply Chain School, a division of the Logistics Bureau Group, kicks off on 12 and 13 March.

The school, based in Parramatta, is now being offered to LAA members as part of the LAA ‘suite’ of training-related services.

Group managing director of Logistics Bureau Rob O’Byrne revealed the school concept to guests at a recent series of seminars and was delighted with the response. He said: “Supply Chain School has obviously struck a chord and met a real need in the industry, based on the overwhelming support for the concept at our recent events. I can’t wait to get started.”

When asked how the membership uptake was going, Mr O’Byrne commented that “We are attracting exactly the type of member we were targeting. Bright, well-educated, eager for knowledge, ambitious and at the early to mid part of their career. And as for our ‘early bird’ discounts, these are all but gone.”

Mr O’Byrne pointed out that “Supply Chain School is different to other training, for three reasons:

“It’s focused. It takes an 80/20 approach to knowledge building, based on many years of experience in knowing what’s vitally important. It focuses on the stuff that makes a critical difference to individual’s careers and businesses, rather than try to cover everything from A to Z. “Supply Chain School is not about bureaucracy and formality. It’s a relaxed learning environment that actively encourages engagement and sharing. So many valuable long-term friendships and business relationships will also emerge as a result. “It’s about industry leaders and practitioners sharing their knowledge and secrets. Not just me and some of my Logistics Bureau specialists, but well known industry leaders who are making big changes in their businesses right now. External speakers are not invited because of who they are or the title they have, but because of their valuable knowledge and their passion to share that knowledge with the future leaders of our industry.”

Supply Chain School consists of three 2-day ‘schools’ each year, supplemented by weekly e-classes and additional videos and webinars. The focus is on ‘fast-tracking’ supply chain knowledge for those who may be quite new to the supply chain field (less than 5 years experience), or working in complimentary areas such as finance, HR or property management.

This education programme is now provided as part of the services offered by the LAA to their members, therefore LAA members are able to gain a 25% discount to Supply Chain School membership.
